Educated at University of Chicago; PhD in history in 1984; taught Russian History for 9 years; went into other types of jobs; last job was Assistant Vice President, CWS, international nonprofit assisting in developing countries and working with refugees; photographer abroad, e.g. Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Last 10 years, have travelled many places around the world and taken photos all the time.
